pointing
Pointing is done in lime to mainly protect the bricks and mud mortar from moisture. Cement is not preferred due to its impact on the environment and health.
BLIND ARCH AND BRICK JALI
Above the bay window, to reduce masonry load onto the bottom arch above the bay window.
BALCONY
Balcony jutting out of the main structure provides a relief space to the hobby room on the first floor. Below this balcony, the space provides an additional utility veranda to the kitchen.
built in seating
A built-in feature that optimizes space and lends a unique architectural quality to the space. The cantilevered seating at the attic floor is made out of remnant of the timber used for the house.
ARCHES
A brick arch built in mud mortar, supporting an arch over it. The upper arch houses a wooden seat that connects the Hobby room on the first floor to the double heighted living room. The upper arc also relieves the structural load from the lower arch.
under tiles
A mechanism that facilitates maximum thermal insulation due to the double layer of roofing tiles and the air gap between them. It also adds to the aesthetic value of the interior spaces.
